Meeting the Challenges of deaf and Hard of Hearing Students

What are some common challenges deaf and hard of hearing students face? Why is it so important to provide support for those students now?

See how LAF Sign Language Solutions can help you meet those challenges to help your students succeed now and in the future.

Hello, my name is Lillah Harris. I am the

owner and interpreter supervisor here at

LAF Sign Language Solutions.

Today, I wanted to discuss with you the importance

of deaf and hard of hearing students

receiving interpreting services in the classroom.

Every student is different and their needs

are all different, but we do understand

many of the challenges that students are

facing in receiving equal access to their education.

One big challenge is just having a lack of

exposure early on in their childhood to language.

So many students are entering school

not having received the exposure to

language that is so important in those

early years of life and so, language

skills, and exposure to language really

need to be reinforced early on when a

deaf and hard of hearing student enters

their school.

Interpreting services also help students

to feel less fear and anxiety in the classroom.

It has been proven that many deaf students

excel in their classroom when they are

receiving language interpretation

services, along with many other services

that are available to deaf and hard of

hearing students, so that they have that

equal access and they can participate in

the classroom.

Virtual interpreting services also give

the students an opportunity to develop a

strong educational foundation and a

foundation that's going to carry them into adulthood.

Our virtual interpreting services not only

provide access to curriculum and also to

social development in the classroom, but

it also exposes students to a service that

they're going to be using as adults, which

are virtual interpreting services.

We truly feel that LAF Sign Language Solutions

can help deaf students meet the

challenges that they face in the classroom.

and we would love to hear more from you

about what the specific needs of your

students in your district are and how we

may be able to support them.

So, please reach out to us at LAFSLS.com

for more information and we look forward

to hearing from you soon.
