The Benefits of Virtual Interpreting

Watch as Kerri Courville, RDSPD Director, describes the benefits of having a virtual sign language interpreter when there's a shortage of interpreters.

Hi, my name is Kerri Courville. I am the Director for the Southeast

Texas Regional Day School Program for the Deaf.

When there is a shortage of interpreters or there is an absence, it's wonderful to be able to reach out to LAF and say, "Hey, is there any way that y'all can provide coverage?", and they're there.

And again, because we have the technology already set up, it's a very easy transition. I would absolutely recommend to other school districts other Regional Day School Programs, whether you're in Texas, Louisiana or any other state, contracting and reaching out to LAF and letting them work with you to meet the needs.

They are also very proactive in making sure that the need is met with the right fit and the right interpreter. And I feel like that's very important.

So again, would I recommend LAF to other districts, to other organizations?

Absolutely, yes.
